  1. How much does the service cost?
  1. For an individual (employee), a Smart401k subscription is $59 per quarter, or $199.95 per year. That means for the average 401(k) balance of $60,000, Smart401k would pay for itself with an increased gain (or reduced loss) of less than one third of one percent.

  1. What kind of retirement accounts does Smart401k work with?
  1. Smart401k is designed to work with most employer-sponsored retirement plans including 401(k)s, 403(b)s, 457s and the Federal Thrift Savings Plan.

  1. How do I pay for my individual subscription?
  1. When you start the sign-up process, you will be asked to provide your credit card information over our secure website. Once approved, you will be able to continue with the registration process. You may also pay by personal check.

  1. What if I have a self-directed IRA?
  1. Smart401k is designed for company-sponsored retirement accounts. Through an exclusive relationship with The Mutual Fund Store, we are able to offer our clients a free investment review of their assets that are outside of an employer- sponsored retirement plan. If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please contact us at info@smart401k.com. Reference "Free Investment Review" and provide us with your name, address and the best way to contact you.

  1. Any discounts if I get more of my co-workers to sign up?
  1. Yes, we will provide discounts to five or more employees from the same company who sign up for the service together. Send an e-mail to info@smart401k.com if you and your co-workers are interested in signing up as a group.

  1. What if I want to terminate my service subscription?
  1. We want every Smart401k client to be extremely satisfied with our service. If you want to end your subscription for any reason, please contact us at info@smart401k.com and we will cancel your subscription and refund any unused quarters.

  1. My employer doesn't offer Smart401k, so how can I use your services?
  1. You can sign up for Smart401k as an individual investor or contact us at info@smart401k.com with information on your company and we will contact them directly about using our service.

  1. My Company has changed the investment choices offered in the plan. How do I update my investment choices?
  1. To update the list of investments your plan now has to offer, you can either email (info@smart401k.com) or fax (866-666-5583) us a complete list of funds that you have to choose from in the plan. We will then review your new fund choices, and send you an email when your recommendation has been updated.

  1. How do I provide you my investment choices if my plan is not listed?
  1. During step four of the registration process, you will be given the option to list your funds online, email (info@smart401k.com) or fax (866-666-5583) them to us. There will also be a fax coversheet available, for your convenience.

  1. How often do you look at my account?
  1. We regularly review the funds offered in your plan and if a change needs to be made at any point, we will do so and notify you immediately. Also Adam Bold, our CIO regularly reviews the percentage allocations to ensure they still fit the current market conditions.

  1. I have non publicly traded funds, can you handle those?
  1. We work with a large number of plans, which do not offer publicly traded funds. We have resources and past experience to deal with these types plans. However, to ensure we provide the appropriate recommendation, when you register, we ask you provide a complete list of investment choices with past performance history, such as one, three and five year periods.

  1. When are updates released?
  1. We follow the calendar quarters, which means you can expect to receive an update around the first week of January, April, July, and October. We will send an email notification informing you of the release of the revised recommendation immediately when it becomes available.
